PySNMP code evolution and compatibility information

Due to another major re-design of the PySNMP package aimed at constructing a clear object model for SNMP protocol and SMI components, and to make this software strictly following SNMP specifications, a new development branch (3.x) has been created within the PySNMP project.

While the 3.x branch is still in its beta stage, the latest 2.x release is considered stable. Although, users are encoraged to try 3.x version as it is designed and written much more accurately than previous branches. Be warned, however, that 3.x is still in development so it may be buggy and its interfaces may slightly change in the future.

First versions of PySNMP belong to 1.x branch which is now historical. All users of PySNMP 1.x should eventually upgrade to version 3.x (which provides compatibility wrappers at the API level).
